Costa Rica: Pura Vida!
| Introduction |
| Its so easy to search online for any information you want to know about famous places, traditions, or local food of any country in the world. However, I really enjoy hearing from local people directly. So, in this blog you will find interesting information about Costa Rica, which is located in Central America Region. I collected them during a short talk with a friend about her beautiful country. “Pura Vida” or pure life, this is how my friend started the conversation about her country. It’s a beautiful expression in Costa Rica that represents positivity, purity and easy life. It can be used as a greeting, a smile, a good vibe and many other nice meanings. |
مقدمة |
من السهل جدا البحث عبر الانترنت عن أي معلومة تريد معرفتها عن الأمكان الشهيرة أو التقاليد أو الأطعمة المحلية لأي بلد بالعالم. ومع ذلك، أستمتع حقاً بالحديث مع السكان المحليين مباشرة. لهذا، في هذه المدونة، ستجدوا معلومات شيقة عن كوستاريكا، التي تقع في منطقة أمريكا الوسطى. لقد جمعتها من خلال محادثة قصيرة مع صديقة عن بلدها الجميل. “بورا فيدا” أو حياة نقية، هكذا بدأت صديقتي الحديث عن بلدها. إنه تعبير جميل في كوستاريكا يمثل الإيجابية، والنقاء، والحياة السهلة. يمكن استخدامه كتحية أو ابتسامة، أو للتعبير عن شعور جيد والعديد من المعاني اللطيفة الأخرى. |
| Sustainability |
At Expo 2020 Dubai, I was impressed by the extent of Costa Rica’s interest in sustainability, and what it has achieved in this field (Figure 2). At the level of individuals, this was notable in the awareness of my friend, through her adoption of environmentally friendly practices. For example, she grows some vegetables in her backyard. In addition, she adopted the recycling bases by using vegetable and fruit waste, coffee grounds and dead leaves as natural fertilizer for her plants (Figure 2). |

في اكسبو 2020 دبي، لفتني مدى اهتمام كوستاريكا في الاستدامة، وما حققته في هذا المجال (الشكل 2). على مستوى الأفراد، كان هذا ملاحظاً في وعي صديقتي، من خلال تبنيها ممارسات صديقة للبيئة. على سبيل المثال، إنها تزرع بعض الخضراوات في فناء منزلها الخلفي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، اعتمدت أساسيات إعادة التدوير باستخدام نفايات الخضار والفاكهة، وبقايا القهوة والأوراق الميتة كسماد طبيعي لنباتاتها (الشكل 2). |
| The Weather and Landscape |
| Because I love nature in all its forms, I liked the pavilion of Costa Rica at Expo 2020 Dubai so much and added it to my list of countries I intend to visit. So I asked my friend about the weather and nature, and she said: The weather in Costa Rica is tropical. The rainy season starts from May to mid-December. It rains almost daily and heavily during these months! And she continued: ‘Costa Rica is a combination of forests, beaches, in addition to active volcanoes that are common terrain in Costa Rica, but they are safe to visit” (Figure 3). As most of the South American countries, Costa Rica is rich in coffee trees and many unique trees and fruits (Figure 4). I was surprised by the richness of this place in an area not exceeding 51000 km2. |
الطقس والطبيعة |
لأني أحب الطبيعة بجميع أشكالها، أحببت جناح كوستاريكا في اكسبو 2020 دبي جداً، وأضفتها إلى قائمة الدول التي أنوي زيارتها. فسألت صديقتي عن الطقس والطبيعة، فقالت: الطقس في كوستاريكا استوائي. موسم الأمطار يبدأ من شهر مايو إلى منتصف ديسمبر. إنها تمطر بشكل شبه يومي وبغزارة خلال هذه الأشهر! وتابعت قائلة: “كوستاريكا عبارة عن مزيج من الغابات، والشواطئ، بالإضافة إلى البراكين النشطة التي تعد أحد التضاريس المنتشرة في كوستاريكا، ولكن زيارتها آمنة” (شكل 3). وكدول أمريكا الوسطى والجنوبية، كوستاريكا غنية بشجر القهوة، والعديد من الأشجار والثمار الفريدة (شكل 4). لقد فوجئت بثراء هذا المكان في مساحة لا تتجاوز 51000 كم2. |
| At the end, I have always loved to explore the countries of Central and South America. Costa Rica is a special place, full of life and combines many different topographies. What are your favourite destinations? Beaches, jungles, cities, mountains, …? |
في النهاية، لطالما أحببت استكشاف دول أمريكا الوسطى والجنوبية. كوستاريكا مكان مميز ومليء بالحياة، يجمع بين العديد من التضاريس المختلفة. ما هي الوجهات المفضلة لديكم؟ الشاطئية، الغابات، المدن، الجبلية، …؟
